Mikael Lundqvist is a dynamic Chief Technology Officer with more than 25 years of global experience, specializing in digital transformation and trading technology for banking and market infrastructure organizations. Renowned for strategic vision and operational leadership, he has driven the execution of innovative trading, exchange, and clearing solutions, enabling seamless digital market ecosystems in regulated environments such as Abu Dhabi and across Europe.

Senior Leadership Experience

Mikael has consistently occupied pivotal C-level and executive technology roles, leading cross-functional teams of over 200 people at organizations including Finstreet Limited, Nordea Markets, Credit Suisse, and several cutting-edge FinTech’s. His track record includes turning around technology divisions, scaling operations rapidly, and fostering cultures of high performance and innovation.
As Group CTO at Finstreet, Mikael directed the build-out of a private end-to-end digital market, including exchange and CSD infrastructure, delivering strategic business objectives and measurable efficiency gains. At Nordea Markets, he led multi-country engineering teams in transforming FX trading platforms and capital markets infrastructure, for front, middle and back-office, modernizing operational practices and significantly reducing costs and issue investigation times.

Trading and Markets Infrastructure Expertise

Mikael’s core expertise lies in designing, developing, and integrating market infrastructure for both traditional securities and digital assets. He has orchestrated major projects covering Primary markets, Secondary markets, trading, , and post-trade operations, including settlement and clearing.
His technical leadership has delivered award-winning platforms and solutions, such as automated FX management systems, algorithmic trading suites, and best-in-class cross-asset trading infrastructures leveraging APIs, highly available platforms and ultra-low latency systems, both on local as well as hybrid cloud architectures. Mikael is also experienced with major vendor systems (Broadway, Murex, Front Arena) and has a strong background in regulatory compliance and security frameworks (MiFID II, PSD2, ISO 27001).
